Sofie Boswell

HEAD COACH: Sofie Boswell is a 24-year-old event rider based in West Auckland. She is a full-time physiotherapist and is currently studying her masters degree at the University of Liverpool specialising in veterinary physiotherapy. Sofie has been a member of Massey pony club since she was thirteen years old and has been instructing all levels for a number of years. Sofie has competed up to 2* level in eventing and has goals to ride at 3*. Sofie has taken over the role of Head Coach this season and is aiming to inspire and aid young riders in achieving their goals.

Jane Elizabeth Callaghan

Jane Elizabeth Callaghan

A new addition to the coaching staff this year, Jane will be the second rally coach for the adult ride. Jane is a skilled eventer and operator of Rimmer Road Equestrian. Jane believes Pony Club is about developing capable all-round horsemanship and balanced happy combinations. Jane offers a confidence building and supportive approach to her lessons, so that riders are able to learn and improve throughout the season.

Rachael Sutton

Rachael Sutton

Massey PC also welcomes Rachael as a guest dressage coach this season. Rachael has trained under Olympic rider David Pincus, in the UK, and worked as a rider for Australia's top dressage rider Brett Parbery. Rachael has received top placings at the North Island Dressage Championships, NZ National Dressage Championships and Horse of the Year, and ridden to Small Tour level. Rachael is also passionate about helping to develop New Zealand dressage, she runs a boutique breeding operation in Wainui and is also bringing on three young horses of her own, with the goal of taking at least one overseas in the future.

Ian Davies

Ian Davies

Returning for his second season at Massey PC. Ian trained in the UK at Duchy College gaining NCMH and BHS1. He worked in the racing industry in the UK and France for 5 years. Ian now manages his own business in Whenuapai, schooling, giving lessons in all disciplines and running weekly clinics. Ian no longer competes due to a motorbike injury that left him with paralysis in his left arm, but still enjoys trail riding and low level SJ.

Sue Pennington

Sue Pennington

Massey PC welcomes Sue Pennington as a guest coach this season. Sue is an accredited Ride With Your Mind (RWYM) coach. Her coaching philosophy includes how the alignment of the rider affects the horse's way of going. Her aim as a coach is to influence the horse and rider in a positive way, by improving both their biomechanics and straightness. Sue implements an array of gymnastic and pole work exercises to improve the horses’ soundness and ride ability.

Georgia Bryan

Georgia Bryan

Georgia Bryan is a 24-year-old event rider based in West Auckland who is currently studying to be a primary school teacher. Georgia has been instructing all age levels at several pony clubs for over 7 years and has been a Massey Pony Club member since she was 10 years old. Georgia has competed to 1* level eventing on her horse, Piper Bay and has also competed in dressage and show jumping. In 2013 Georgia achieved her A certificate and prides herself on motivating and supporting her students to achieve their certificate and overall riding goals.

Darryll Cole

Darryll Cole

This season we welcome Darryll Cole, a 22yr old event and dressage rider based in Waimakau, Auckland. Darryll has had 15+ years riding experience and also coaches privately and dressage judges. Darryll prides herself on problem solving, building confidence and solid foundations in young riders. We look forward to Darryll joining us this season.

Rebecca Patterson

Rebecca Patterson

This season we welcome another new member to the coaching team. Rebecca Patterson is a 24-year-old event rider based in west Auckland. Rebecca has been a member of HVPC for many years and has been involved in all our district events. She is currently eventing at 1* level, judges and has previously taught at pony club. Rebecca has judged at our twilight SJ events and has a lot of knowledge across all disciplines.

Erica Ness

Erica Ness

Erica Ness is a 19-year-old rider who is based in West Auckland. Erica has been a rider and coach of Massey for several years and also judges. Erica has competed in eventing, mounted games, dressage and show hunter. We are excited to have Erica back this season and she is definitely a crowd favourite amongst our Junior riders!

Amy

Amy

We are excited to welcome Amy back to Massey this season after been a riding member of MPC for a number of years. Amy is a 19 year old rider based in West Auckland. She has had 15 years riding experience and has competed in eventing, games, show jumping and show hunter. She aims to help young riders gain confidence and by using her knowledge and experience.
